In 1974, our founders had the foresight to imagine a community that could help people better understand their ancestors' role in history. Fifteen years later, society members gave of their time, talents, and funds to purchase our library building, which todays houses a unique collection of books, maps, and other resources, some of which are quite rare. Learn more about our history.
In the 50 years since our founding, several people have remembered NVGS in their estate plans. Their legacy gifts have helped us purchase special research tools and equipment, weather recent tough times, and maintain our library. Won't you join them?
It's easy to remember NVGS in your estate plans! Your legacy gift helps ensure that NVGS can keep serving its members and the community for years to come.
Beneficiary DesignationsNaming NVGS as a beneficiary on certain accounts is the easiest way to leave a legacy gift. Options include IRAs, retirement plans (such as 401k or 403b), life insurance policies, or other accounts for which you can name a beneficiary. Begin the process by requesting a change of beneficiary form from the account administrator (or download from their website). You can stipulate a percentage of the account value or a specific dollar amount. Complete the form according to your wishes and return it to the provider. Wills and TrustsWe suggest the following sample text to include in your will or living trust: "I bequeath ________ [specific dollar amount, percentage, or remainder] to Napa Valley Genealogical Society for its general use and purpose. Napa Valley Genealogical Society is a nonprofit corporation, organized and existing under the laws of California, with its principal business address at 1701 Menlo Ave, Napa, CA 94558. Tax identification number: 23-7444798." | Your Legacy GiftFor fifty years, NVGS has helped our members and the community gain a deeper understanding of who they are through the study of genealogy. Your legacy gift will help further NVGS's mission by directly supporting our library, education programs, outreach efforts, and operations. |
