Researching Family Stories for 50 Years

Plan Your Visit

Our library is a unique and special resource in northern California! Although we make some of our resources available on this website, some holdings are only accessible through an in-person visit. Plan your visit using the information below.

Library Hours

OPEN

Our library is regularly staffed on:

  • Wednesdays, 10 a.m.  1 p.m.
  • Thursdays, 10 a.m.  1 p.m.
Please remember: The resources in our library may not be borrowed (except for a small collection). Be sure to plan plenty of time to conduct your research!

When you arrive, look for Sammy at our main entrance

Simply email your name, contact info, and preferred dates & times to Appointment@NapaGenSoc.org.

If none of the above time frames work for you, email your availability to Appointment@NapaGenSoc.org and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule.

All special times must be requested at least 48 hours in advance to ensure staff availability.

CLOSED

Our library is closed outside of regular hours and scheduled appointment times, as well as for the following:

  • Most national holidays
  • The week of Thanksgiving
  • The entire weeks of Christmas and New Year's

Doing Your Research

Our friendly volunteers are available to help you start your ancestor search, explore our various written materials, and access our online resources.

  • Copy fees are applicable for all when researching in house
  • Non-members: We ask a $10 donation when using our library resources
  • Bring a USB flash drive to download documents viewed online.

All donations and fees help support and maintain our Library.

To better serve you, our members and the public, we are a FamilySearch affiliate library and have access to several paid subscription sites.

Discovering your family history is a rewarding journey — whether you're a beginner or an advanced researcher, we’re here to help.

Special Equipment

The equipment described below is available during your library visit. A volunteer will show you how to use the equipment and answer your questions.

Please set up an appointment to use this equipment: email Librarian@NapaGenSoc.org.

  • ScanPro Microfilm Reader & Scanner: Helps you browse, save, or print anything on the 100+ rolls of microfilm/microfiche in our collection. Ours is the only microfilm machine in Napa County!
You may also use our machine to view, scan or print from your own microfilm/microfiche.
