Hey, fellow Napans! Have you ever driven down California Blvd and thought, “What’s that library in the cute former church building?” On April 28, the Napa Valley Genealogical Society will tell you what’s there, and why you might want to plan a visit!

The NVGS library has more than 9,000 holdings and has been in its present location since 1989. Please join us as we review the library’s resources and highlight just a few of the many valuable Treasures in our Stacks.

Whether you are into history or genealogy, this valuable Northern California resource can help.

Bonus: Tess Giracca, Napa County Librarian, will give us a brief overview of the wonderful resources and equipment available in their Memory Lab.

Susan Ingersoll and Sue Ziemski are the current President and Librarian, respectively, of Napa Valley Genealogical Society. They have both been enthusiastic family history researchers for at least a couple of decades. Like their fellow NVGS members, Susan and Sue love the society’s unique library, and enjoy spreading that love to all who will listen!

This special event is being held to celebrate Preservation Week and is co-hosted by Napa County Library and Napa Valley Genealogical Society.

Using case studies, we'll discover methods of using the best offline records to give a more effective balance to our research. Offline records may include newspapers, books, property, church, government, and other records.

Mr. Baker has been an active genealogist for the past 15 years. He specializes in German, Midwest US, American research, and DNA.

He has written articles for the National Genealogical Society (NGS) Magazine, the NGS Quarterly, and Der Blumenbaum, the journal of the Sacramento German Genealogy Society. He is a former Certified Genealogist (CG.

He has presented classes and webinars to many genealogy groups including National Genealogical Society, Southern California Jamboree, and Legacy Family Tree Webinars.

Mr. Baker earned a PhD in sociology and social psychology from the University of Utah. He is retired from an aerospace and business management career.

We will define what oral history is and talk about strategies to interview your family. Then we'll go through the process of verifying a family story!

Sara is a full-time professional genealogist with over thirty years of research experience. Her research has taken her to nearly every state in the USA and Ireland. She especially enjoys breaking down brick walls, discovering the stories of black sheep ancestors, and helping individuals preserve their photographic legacy.

Sara holds a Boston University Genealogical Research Certificate, a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, and is an alum of the ProGen Study Group. She is a member of DAR and other lineage societies, the Association of Professional Genealogists, and the Genealogical Speakers Guild.
